Why do people endure their pain?

People believe that pain is just part and parcel of growing older.

They’re unable to resolve their pain even after trying different treatments and believe that the only option left is expensive and invasive open surgery.

Our Unique Pain Treatment

Our Unique Shoulder Pain Treatment

Myospan

Myospan injections target muscles, ligaments, tendons, joints, and nerves to break the pain cycle, reduce inflammation, and improve healing.

Myospan is used to treat a wide variety of common pain conditions like tension headaches, tennis/golfer elbow, plantar fasciitis, and joint pain as well as pain in the shoulder, knee, ankle, neck and back.

Specialised needles are used to reach the pain source/generator without the need for open surgery or painkillers. Depending on the painful condition, different injections may be utilised to either remove the pain generator or stop the pain signals.

The injections can be given in a doctor’s clinic and usually only take a few minutes. Usually, a single course of treatment is sufficient for sustained pain relief and may be repeated in six months or a year if necessary.

Our Patient Recovery Stories

Steven is a Business Development Manager in his 40s who has enjoyed golfing since his early 20s.

It came as a complete surprise when he found himself dealing with extreme stiffness and pain in his right shoulder joint. The discomfort quickly worsened over the period of a month. He began having difficulty completing everyday tasks like putting on his clothes and washing his hair. His discomfort seemed to worsen at night and was affecting his sleep

Steven found himself on a daily regimen of over-the-counter painkillers. While the medication helped to dull the ache, his mobility saw no improvement.

Steven decided to visit a DR+ GP, who diagnosed him with a frozen shoulder. He received Coreflex injections containing a local anaesthetic and corticosteroid, which effectively reduced the inflammation and pain in his shoulder area.

He was able to return to work immediately after receiving treatment. With the help of gentle stretching exercises that he practiced at home, Steven’s shoulder was successfully “unfrozen”. He quickly regained his mobility and was able to return to golfing.

Mrs Lim is a 67-year-old who makes homemade pastries for a living.

After years of mixing and kneading doughs, she had gradually developed pain in her neck and left shoulder, along with weakness in the same area. Her symptoms worsened after she received her COVID-19 booster jab and she found it difficult to continue baking. She had to reduce the volume of pastries she made and considered closing her business altogether.

A loyal customer of Mrs Lim’s recommended her to visit Singapore Paincare Center for a consultation. Following a physical examination and MRI, it was determined that she was suffering from a rotator cuff tear due to degeneration and overuse.

Dr Bernard Lee recommended Myospan injections to treat Mrs Lim’s shoulder pain. He also advised her to go for physiotherapy sessions to accelerate her recovery.

Over the following weeks, Mrs Lim was overjoyed to find that her pain had subsided by about 90% and has now resumed her homemade pastry business.

FAQ About Shoulder Pain

Is heat good for shoulder pain?

Heat should not be used in the first 72 hours of the onset of pain. Instead, the injured shoulder should be iced 3 to 4 times a day, for 10 to 20 minutes each time to reduce swelling and inflammation. Heat can be used to ease tension and tightness once any swelling has subsided.

How should I sleep with shoulder pain?

Try to avoid sleeping on your side or your stomach as this can exacerbate your pain. Ideally, you should sleep on your back and ensure that your pillow is not too high. If you are a habitual side sleeper, sleep on the opposite side of your pain and place a small pillow between your knees to improve spinal alignment.

Should I stretch my shoulder if it hurts?

If you can, try to improve your mobility by gently stretching throughout the day. This eases your shoulder stiffness and helps you to regain flexibility. If your shoulder pain is so bad that you can’t lift your arm, you should see a doctor as soon as possible.

Why is shoulder pain worse at night?

Your shoulder joint may be compressed while you’re lying down, which worsens the discomfort. Inactivity also leads to the fluids in your joints collecting and building up, causing the joints to become inflamed.

Is shoulder pain dangerous and should I be worried?

In certain cases, excruciating shoulder pain may be due to a serious condition such as a heart attack or shoulder dislocation. If you have severe pain, your joint appears deformed, or you have other symptoms such as heat and tenderness around the joint or pain and fever, seek medical attention immediately.

Can shoulder pain resolve itself?

Depending on individual conditions, shoulder injuries may be able to heal themselves over time. However, it can take as long as a few years – that’s a long time to suffer unnecessarily.
